Ever Wondered why Brands use Specific Colors?

Color is a power which directly influences the soul – Wassily Kadinski

As the popular saying goes “First Impression, is the last Impression”, it stands true here. Color of the logo or your brand is the first thing that people notice. The psychology and concept of palette used for your brand helps establish a connection with the customers. It helps in eliciting the right emotions amongst the general mass.

Colors tend to strongly reflect branding even if there is no text in them. Studies have found that a product’s color tends to influence 60% to 80% of a customer’s purchasing decision. People have the habit of remembering the colors of the logo rather than the text in them or the name of the brand. This is why Colors play such a pivotal role in connecting with people and thereby increasing your brand recognition and total sales.

Your brand’s color should be consistent and integrated across your website, your landing pages, your logo, the social media accounts and any other collateral you have created which endorses your brand and even your physical office space. Consistency in colors is important so that potential customers do not receive mixed signals. If you are using a strong color and then slowly shift to a sober or a neutral palette, it will leave your audience confused and disengaged.

Every color evokes a different response from humans. Studies have shown that color blue is the winning color as it is used in 33% of the top 100 brands. Red comes second by being used in 29% of the brands, 28% use dark or greyscale colors and finally 13% use yellow.

How do we react to different colors? And what does each color talk about your brand? Here is a brief overview!

  • Blue – Blue as mentioned is the favorite color for most of the brands. The reason being this color tends to calm and soothe people. It makes us feel at ease and peace. It is also associated with trust, responsibility and security. And most of the brands want to use these elements in their logo.
